In my foyer I was going to add a skim coat before installing the LVT but decided against it. The grout lines were very large and deep which is what I was worried about, but I decided to move forward with the LVT. After 1. You will definitely know the different between LVT and regular vinyl tile — they feel much more durable. As soon as your tiles are installed, you can immediately get to grouting! How fab is that?! The selection is not as vast as ceramic tile which is a con , but I was surprised by the wide range of colors and textures. When I was at the store making my purchase, I was told by a sales rep that any peel-and-stick vinyl tile is groutable, except for the styles that have the faux grout look around the edge.

How much higher did the vinyl tiles over CT make your floor? Did you have any issues with the transitions to other floors? There was no transition issues from floor to floor because there was a pre-existing threshold. The thin material and ease of installation is one reason why using LVT is so great. You would want to be sure that the old floor is in good condition and has lifting.

It has been about 2years now. Did you consider a sheet vinyl remnant? Seamless, easy to vacuum and wet mop. Not that you'll have much area to clean, but one piece is worth considering. You will love it! We like it so much we are now putting it in another kitchen and bath. We chose not to grout the "travertine" because it looks more authentic because of the tile shape; when rectangular genuine travertine was layed it was often with a superthin grout line, if any. I would not skip the grout in square tiles because genuine stone square tiles almost always are grouted. Without grout it likely would kill the illusion, possibly making it look like sheet vinyl.
In another home 10 years ago we grouted an oversized 16" square stone-like lux vinyl tile in our walk-in pantry and a realtor argued with me, telling my you an tell it's really stone because it is grouted. I repeated that I was the one who peeled and stuck it and grouted it. I made her get down and touch it to see it was not freezing cold. Also, the first time 2 years ago, the tiles' peel-off paper had word Stainmaster etc and large arrows to show the intended direction to orientate the tile.
This week we bought the same exact product and there is lettering but no arrows, so we used the words to orientate the tiles in the same direction. Two years ago I researched and there were reasons to have it face the right direction, you can check it out or decide yourself. All else was the same in quality. Important to acclimate the temperature, several reasons but especially because if the tile is cool the paper doesn't release as easily from the adhesive on the tile back and you end up picking at the paper.
My job was making sure no 2 identical tiles were next each other, setting them where I wanted them for husband to pick up and peel them, and I layed the tiles as close and tight as humanly possible.
